Emily Bardelloni is a photographer based in Brussels, graduated from KASK & Conservatorium, Ghent. She primarily works with digital photography but enjoys combining it with different media and archive material. While working she explores the contrast between the immortalising aspect of photography and the fluidity of time. By using photography she tries to control the passing of time by creating her own narrative of events.

Her practise often begins with a concept she stumbled upon in her daily life, she starts to obsess over it and collect as much information as she can about it. When she has reached the point where she believes she did enough research, she starts the phase of creating by translating what she has learned through images.

She’s particularly interested in the tension between the fixity of the photograph and the fluidity of lived memory. While memory is fragmentary and subject to revision, the photographic image presents itself as stable and authoritative. She uses photography as an extension of her memory.
