Lettere della Sera

Lettere della Sera, (Evening Letters) is the diary my grandfather wrote to my grandmother everyday after her passing in 2006.

After my grandfather passed away, I decided to look for this diary. While reading it, instead of getting to know my grandmother better, I discovered this immense love my grandfather had for her, and so this project was born.

I collected a lot of traces of their life together that I found in their house, and I decided to use this archive material that goes from 1960 up to 2012.

The book, made in collaboration with Basia Strzeżek, is a collection of poems, love letters, fragments of diaries and pictures that tell the story of his love for her.

In his diary my grandfather talks about the daily walks he took, I retraced his steps while I imagined him reminiscing over their life together. I recreated those moments by combining videos of the walks with fragments of the diary.
